Kristie K Artist Profile

Kristie studied fine arts with an emphasis in art history, theory and criticism at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and art education at Columbia College. Her paintings examine the power structure within pop culture while using bright colors influenced by the German expressionists. She incorporates social and digital media that have transient qualities and suspends them within the confines of traditional oil painting. She has shown her work throughout the United States from the West Coast to the East Coast. She has been awarded the 2007 CAAP award, was selected as a promising new artist by The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2005 and was awarded a Special Assistance Grant by the Illinois Arts Council in 2007.
